Student Support Services and Drug Free Program Office The Student Support Services and Drug Free Program Office is
part of the Central Office of the Hickman County Board of Education. The Intensive Focus Program. This prevention program is funded
by the Bureau of Alcohol and Drug Abuse services and the Hickman County Board of
Education. This prevention program serves students in grades 2 thru 11. The
groups meet for one hour once a week for 12 to 14 weeks. During group time a
variety of subjects are discussed. Some of the subjects are communication
skills, healthy life styles, manners, responsibility, problem solving skills,
goal setting, peer relationships conflict resolution, and the importance of
being drug free. Students must have a signed parent permission slip to attend
this program We have named our intensive Focus Program STATUS "students
taking a turn upward toward success". Parents are always invited and
encouraged to participate in the process and group sessions. For more

office. These are federally funded programs that support not only schools but the communities as well. These programs embrace a variety of other programs such as: The DARE Program, School Resource Officers, and Mentoring programs. In addition these programs allow prevention training for teachers and staff and the purchase of prevention curriculums and other prevention materials during the school year.
