GUIDANCE

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS

Students are required to earn twenty-eight (28) credits in order to graduate.

In addition, students must pass the Gateway tests in English 10, Algebra I, and Biology I in order to receive a regular diploma.

Special education students who do not pass the tests but who do pass the required twenty-eight (28) credits and/or successfully complete the IEP may receive a Special Education Diploma.

Non-special education students who do not pass the tests but who do pass the required twenty-eight (28) credits may receive a Certificate of Attendance.

College-bound students are encouraged to study carefully the entrance requirements of Tennessee state-supported schools and to follow the curriculum for the college bound student.

Students must take eight (8) credits each year. Students must follow the University or the Tech-Prep Path or a Dual Path including both pathways to graduation.

The following courses are required for a diploma:

English 4 credits
Mathematics 3 credits (Math Tech II or Algebra I required)
Science 3 credits (1 in life science, 1 in physical science)
Social Studies 3 credits ( U.S. History 1, Economics ½, U.S. Government ½, either World Geography or World History 1)
Wellness 1 credit
Electives 14 credits

TOTAL 28 credits

HONORS DIPLOMA

GENERAL CORE COURSES:
English (Honors) 4 credits
Math (Algebra I, Algebra II, & Geometry or 3 credits
Algebra II, Geometry, & An Advanced Math Course)
Science (2 credits must be lab science) 3 credits
Social Studies 3 credits
Wellness 1 credit

GENERAL EDUCATION OR CAREER TECHNICAL
Foreign Language (in same language) 2 credits
Visual/Performing Arts 1 credit
Electives 11 credits
             or
Job Entry Vocational Education 4 credits
Electives 10 credits
GPA of 3.0 required
