Each person is responsible for the cleanliness and orderliness of his/her locker. Changes in lockers must be authorized in the office and are subject to inspection or search at any time it is necessary. All lockers equipped for locks shall have school furnished locks. RESPECT FOR SCHOOL PROPERTY

In order to continue to have a building, furniture, fixtures, etc., of which we will not be ashamed or be apologetic for defacement, we need the cooperation of every student. You can help by:

1. Using containers placed in all rooms for discarded papers.

2. Taking care of books as if they were paid for by you.

3. Not writing on, cutting, or scratching walls or school furniture in washrooms, halls, lockers, or classrooms.

4. Any property damaged or destroyed will be expected to be paid for by the student.

BOY-GIRL RELATIONSHIPS

Hickman County High School feels obligated to help boys and girls develop standards of conduct that will keep them from attracting unfavorable attention to boy-girl relationships. Therefore, discretion should be used to avoid undue familiarity and the violations of accepted standards of behavior.

Holding hands will be permitted as long as the arms are extended out from the body.

Arms around each other will not be permitted and will result in two Level I Demerits.

Kissing or any other aggressive behavior will result in a Level II Demerit.

CHEWING GUM

It is considered a breach of good etiquette to chew gum except in private or in the most informal situations. Chewing gum is annoying in classrooms and always results in scattered wrappers on the floors and in desks as well as the gum finding a permanent home on the carpet, water fountains and on the underside of desk tops or cafeteria tables. Gum chewing is allowed in the halls, but gum chewing in the classrooms will be at teacher's discretion.

Students are asked not to consume candy, food, or soft drinks in the classrooms or halls unless permitted by your classroom teacher.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

Earthquake, fire, and tornado drills will be held on a regular basis. The teacher will instruct the class as to the procedure to follow in case of emergency. The faculty will review drill procedures.

ADMINISTERING MEDICINE TO STUDENTS

It is the policy of Hickman County Board of Education that all children's medication be administered by school personnel under the appropriate administrative regulations and written instructions signed by the parent and physician. Students should bring any medicine to Vocational Office or Front Office, as soon as they arrive at school.
