THEATRE ARTS CURRICULUM

THEATRE ARTS I Credit: 1
Grade: 9, 10, 11, 12
Prerequisites: None

This course provides an overview of basic elements of acting, theatre production, verbal and nonverbal communication, and creative drama. Class-work involves a variety of activities to increase general theatre knowledge and performance ability, and improvisational skills.

THEATRE ARTS II Credit: 1
Grade: 10, 11, 12
Prerequisites: Grade average of at least a C in Theatre I, plus a satisfactory behavior and discipline record.

This course continues the study of theatre with work in voice and diction, pantomime, and improvisation. There is more focus on individual acting and performance skills, plus practical experience in costuming, scenic design, set construction, and/or stage make-up.

THEATRE ARTS III Credit: 1
Grade: 11, 12
Prerequisite: Grade average of at least a C in Theatre II, plus a satisfactory behavior and discipline record.

This course involves concentrated work in full-length play production. Students will take a specific play from auditions through all the production elements involved until final performance.

SENIOR PLAY PRODUCTION/ THEATRE ARTS IV Credit: 1
Grade: 12
Prerequisites: One previous theatre credit


This course is only open to seniors during spring semester. Students will perform, stage manage, and do the technical production work required to produce the Senior Play.
