About Our School

Hickman County Middle School has been at 1639 Bulldog Boulevard in Centerville, the county seat, since 1985.  Until the opening of two Hickman County Intermediate Schools in 2000, HCMS had served grades five through eight.  Now, it serves approximately 480 students in grades six through eight.  HCMS students are enrolled for 180 days and attend school from 8:00 - 3:00 daily.  Teachers are contracted for 200 days of employment and work from 7:30 - 3:30.

Hickman County Middle School earned the "1986 School of the Year in Tennessee Award" for its design excellence and cost efficiency.  The building has twenty-nine classrooms, cafetorium, library with access to twenty-seven computers, gymnasium, music room, administrative offices, and two teacher work areas.  The outside grounds have been renovated for ball fields and extended play areas.  In addition to serving its students well, the school welcomes the community to use its facilities.  Jr. Pro sports, Hickman County Adult League Basketball, and intraschool camps use the gym.  Tennessee Wildlife Resource Hunter Safety classes, Agricultural Extension Service programs, 4-H county meetings, and ACT study classes utilize the classrooms.  The Hickman County Election Commission uses the school as a voting site.  The cafetorium is booked for class reunions, anniversary receptions, political forums, community club meetings, fund-raising dinners and local industry and business dinners and meetings.

Hickman County Middle School is accredited with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
