Dear Parents/Guardians of Students Participating in Title I
Classes:
Parents/Guardians of Students
Eligible for Title I Classes:
The Title I program exists at East Hickman Elementary School and East
Hickman Intermediate Schools to provide
supplemental instruction in the areas of Reading and Math. The program has
been designed to help the school meet the State of Tennessee's high
standard for schools. That standard is defined as an increase in the mean
performance level of 0.05 or greater in the areas of Reading and Math as
measured by the 2000 TerraNova achievement test. If that standard is not
met, a local standard of preponderance of evidence may be utilized to show
gains have been made.
The Federal government requires the school system to inform parents
regarding the progress the school is making in meeting the standard.
For the 1999-2000 school year, East Hickman Elementary (at that time
Grades 1-4) achieved the
following:
Reading - met the State Standard;
Math - met the Local criteria of preponderance of evidence.
If you need additional information, please contact the director of the
program, Dr. Jerry Nash, at 729-3391 Extension 4.
The Title I Program of the Hickman County School System
does not discriminate in its educational programs, activities, or
employment practices on the basis of race, sex, national origin, religion,
