Wow! We get tons of questions on ICQ. It is a very easy program to use and it helps keep us all connected with out having to chase a phone down. Below, we'll try to answer most of your questions for you.

What Does ICQ Mean?

ICQ means "I Seek You." The program was created about ten years ago in India. It is now owned by America Online.

Where do I Get ICQ?

We keep a current version on our web server. The reason we store a copy is because the ICQ download site is blocked by our Internet Provider. Since ICQ is classified as a chat client, that is why the site is blocked.

Download ICQ 2003b here.

I Want to Upgrade

Really simple. You need to know a couple of things before you starts. You must know your ICQ number and you must know your password. If you have those two things, you are ready to go!! Just click the above link to download ICQ.

Where Do I Find a List of All of Our Users?

We keep try to keep track of everyone by posting a manually updated list of users. Click here to get to that page. Now, the only problem with the page is that every time a user changes their ICQ number, we don't always find out. Please let us know posting the change on the List Page.

I Get Unwanted Messages.

Click the "Main" button on ICQ. Make sure you are in Advanced Mode by looking for the line, "To <something> Mode." "Something" will be either Advanced or Simple. If it says Simple, then you are already in Advanced Mode. If it says Advanced, then click it.

To make your ICQ more secure click "Main" then "Security and Privacy."

a. To make it where no one can add you without your permission, on the main window beside choose "General."  Choose My Authorization is required..."

b. In the second section under "Permissions," choose "Communications Events." If you click everything under the Yellow (Only users on my contact list) then you only get messages from those you know.

c. Click Messages. Check all the choices except Multi Recipients.

You will now get no unwanted messages!!
