A couple of things to think about first. If it is school owned software, we have to have a valid license for it before it can be installed. Office 97 is a great example. We have to buy a license before we can put it on your machine.

Software that you buy is another story. It comes with a license. So you can install without us. Yep, you can do it. You need to try it a couple of times before turning in a work order.

Today's programs are real easy (usually) to install. Most of the time you put the CD in and it runs. But, for those few times that it doesn't, try it this way.

Open "My Computer" and double click on your CD Drive. In my case it is Drive "E".  You'll get a menu of all the files on that CD. Look for a file named either Setup.exe OR Install.exe. Most likely Setup.exe is the correct one. Double click on the file and you've begun the install process. It is really connect the dots after that. Just be careful and read the instructions that pop up in each window. Also, read the manual. After a few times, you'll be able to install software in a jiffy.
